Maryland jewelry artist Patricia Congro Aquilina has been interested in the creative and performing arts since childhood. From drawing and painting, to music and graphic design, she has been involved in some sort of creative endeavor her entire life. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Administration from (then) Salisbury State College and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from the College of William and Mary. Her career has taken her around the country, working for arts organizations and colleges including The Kennedy Center, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Peabody Institute, and the University of Maryland. A trained singer, Patricia has performed with several major symphony choruses in Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Charleston, South Carolina, as well as the Annapolis Opera. Patricia uses traditional materials to create what she calls “Classic Jewelry with a Modern Twist.” Begun as a hobby in a basement laundry room (hence the company name) in 2017, Cellar Studio Jewelry has grown to be a registered business, participating in juried fine art and craft shows in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Pieces are also stocked at several retail shops around Maryland, including her co-op shop Annapolis Pearl Gallery. Pieces are created using freshwater pearls, semiprecious gemstones, and gemstone beads; 14k gold fill, sterling silver, copper, as well as plated metals, are used to keep our pieces affordable to all. Her children's line is made with the same quality as her adult jewelry, but is sized for our smaller clientele.
